Orange County Power Authority Enters into Partnership with Southern California Regional Energy Network To Offer Energy Efficiency Programs to Member Communities

Launching in 2022, Orange County Power Authority will now have access to programs designed to help member cities use energy more efficiently

Irvine, CA (October 27, 2021) – Orange County Power Authority (OCPA) announced today a new partnership with the Southern California Regional Energy Network (SoCalREN) to bring energy efficiency programs to its member communities including Buena Park, Fullerton, Huntington Beach, and Irvine. Through this partnership, OCPA will collaborate with SoCalREN on programs and initiatives that will lead to long-term, sustainable benefits for residents, businesses, and public facilities within member cities.

“Entering into a partnership with the SoCalREN is a strategic alliance as we gear up for the Orange County Power Authority’s highly-anticipated launch in 2022,” said Chairman Mike Carroll, Councilmember City of Irvine. “This partnership will enable OCPA to further deploy energy efficiency programs and initiatives within our member communities by leveraging SoCalREN’s technical expertise, and capacity.”

Working with SoCalREN, the immediate focus for OCPA will be on the public agency programs – provided at no cost – to identify and implement energy efficiency projects in public city facilities and schools. These are critical first steps to lead OCPA member cities towards a sustainable clean energy future.

“The partnership with OCPA is vital as we work towards reduced energy consumption and endeavor to create new, resilient energy efficiency programs for public agencies,” said Lujuana Medina, Environmental Initiatives Section Manager. “Collaboration is extremely beneficial when implementing or deploying efforts of this scale. OCPA doesn’t have to reinvent the wheel and can accomplish major initiatives more efficiently by tapping SoCalREN’s collective experience.”

OCPA can access a number of SoCalREN energy saving programs to help member cities achieve overall greater sustainability.
