YogaSix Irvine Goes Green
What does it mean to be a Green P100NEER?
Commercial customers who participate in the Orange County Power Authority’s (OCPA) 100% Renewable Choice plan are significantly reducing their carbon footprint. To recognize our customers for choosing 100% Renewable energy and to help them share the news about their sustainability efforts, OCPA invites them to join our Green P100NEER program. OCPA provides a suite of tools to help Green P100NEERs communicate with their employees, customers, vendors and others about how they are choosing to purchase renewable energy through OCPA to create healthier, more resilient communities.
Among our Green P100NEER program participants is YogaSix Irvine, a locally owned and operated business. We sat down with Chris and Christine Kan from YogaSix Irvine for a Q&A about their experience with the Orange County Power Authority and what sustainability means for their small business. Here’s what they had to share:
When you learned that the City of Irvine was transitioning to Orange County Power Authority as its default energy provider, how did it make you feel to know that your business could help address climate change by being a 100% renewable energy customer?
We were thrilled to learn about YogaSix Irvine’s transition to Orange County Power Authority. It’s exciting to be part of the fight against climate change, not just as business owners but also as parents who want to protect our child from the effects of climate change. YogaSix Irvine is proud to lead by example.
How does purchasing clean energy align with the values of your yoga studio and the customers you serve?
Purchasing clean energy aligns with the core values of YogaSix Irvine. This studio fosters a holistic approach to health and wellness, and our customers care about how their choices impact the planet. By choosing renewable energy, we are committing to a healthier, more sustainable world.
In what other ways do you integrate sustainability practices in your studio?
Sustainability is very important to us. Part of our efforts include using eco-friendly cleaning products, reducing waste through recycling, and encouraging our members to use reusable water bottles and towels over single-use. We also have energy-efficient lighting and appliances in our studio, and we are now proud to be a 100% renewable energy customer with OCPA!
What do you tell your neighbors and business friends about OCPA?
We want our community to know that OCPA offers a viable path to a cleaner, more sustainable future. Being part of the Orange County Power Authority supports the transition to renewable energy and a commitment to combating climate change.
