Energy Efficiency Kits Available for Free or Reduced Cost for Orange County Power Authority Customers Through OCPA Marketplace

Local, not-for-profit clean energy provider helps customers save money on utility bills and contribute to a more sustainable future

IRVINE, Calif. (April 23, 2025)—Orange County Power Authority (OCPA)—a not-for-profit community clean energy provider—is offering free or reduced-cost Energy Efficiency Kits to customers in its member cities including Buena Park, Fullerton, and Irvine. The kits are available through OCPA’s online marketplace for no cost to OCPA customers enrolled in the California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE) program or the Family Electric Rate Assistance (FERA) program, and for half price, $25, for all other OCPA customers while supplies last.

“The Energy Efficiency Kits can help OCPA customers increase energy efficiency and cut down on their home electricity costs,” said Susan Sonne, Board Chair of OCPA. “As a not-for-profit clean energy provider, OCPA reinvests revenue in community programs that push the clean energy movement forward, helping our customers to take action in ways both big and small.”

Each Energy Efficiency Kit, valued at close to $50, includes:

  • LED Lightbulbs(two included): Energy-efficient LED lightbulbs that provide long-lasting, cost-effective lighting
  • Seven-Outlet Advanced Power Strip: Helps reduce energy waste by powering off electronics that aren’t in use and preventing “phantom” energy drain
  • Wi-Fi Smart Plug: Enables smart control of home appliances from a smartphone or tablet via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connection, allowing users to manage the energy usage of devices remotely to save energy and reduce waste
  • Rubber Weatherstrip: Helps to seal gaps around windows and doors, preventing drafts and improving home insulation

All items are easy to use and install, and help customers reduce their carbon footprint and contribute to a greener future.

Energy Efficiency Kits can be purchased while supplies last at https://www.ocpower.org/energy-programs/marketplace.
